Finding Objects for the live observation tomorrow:
On Tuesday, we plan a live observation with the Faulkes Telescope North,
Location: Haleakala Observatory, Maui, Hawaii
Date and Time: July 21st, 2026, 14:30 – 15:00 UT (web-version: 04:30 – 05:00 Hawaiian time)
Objects need to be at least 30° above the horizon
Field of view of the telescope: 9.1’x9.1′
Avoid objects closer than ca. 45° to the moon.
Select useful targets for the observation.
Please note the target name, coordinates, object type, size and magnitude and give it to Lothar or Seda.

Additional activities(optional):

1) Set the observing location to your home school by entering its geographic coordinates. Save this location under the name of your school or town. You can then use this location whenever you use the program in class. 

2) Zoom out until the entire sky is visible. Locate the Ursa Mayor (Big Dipper) and use it to find the North Star (Polaris)

3) Zoom back in so that you can examine the sky in the individual compass directions. Find the most prominent constellations.

4) Set the observing location to Tenerife. Set the date to today and the time to 10:00 p.m. (UTC+1). Enable the display of Deep Sky Objects. Search for objects that are well suited for imaging with the Seestar S50: angular diameter smaller than 0.5°, as bright as possible.
Find at least: one globular cluster, one open cluster, one emission nebula, one ring nebula and one galaxy
